Hyster C625B Roller

Hi everybody! It's been awhile since i've been on this forum. I've never visited the roller section until now. I'm hoping you guys can be of some help. My cousin has this Hyster C625B roller and he doesn't have a service manual on it. The oil has been leaking out of the sides of the drum. He has been filling it with hydralic fluid, but he isn't sure if it is supposed to be gear oil in there. He thinks the seals are probably worn anyway, but if it is supposed to take heavier oil, then maybe it won't leak so bad. It is being used off road, so if it leaks a little bit, it's ok. :cool2 Can anyone elaborate on this for us? Any input would be helpful. Thanks, Joe :)

TAMPO RS16A questions

Looking for an older vibratory smooth roller for packing gravel at a new building site and graveled yard. Wont be getting many hours, will either finish the project or keep it around for maintaining the gravel around the yard.

A '81 TAMPO RS16A came available. Description is vague but price could be reasonable. Looks well maintained and no leaks. Does anyone know what motors would have been in this model in that vintage? Anyone have experience with these and can weigh in good or bad? What are parts like for these?

Just bought a 2010 bomag 54" single drum. Have some questions.

Just bought my first packer. It's a 54" smooth drum. One thing I have noticed is that it has no scrapers on it. Only the ones that are shaped like teeth. Guessing it had a pad foot shell kit in it at one time. How important is it to have scrapers? Should I look into getting some or are the ones for the pad food good enough. I will be mainly packing gravel.

Hello all. I'm in need of the schematics for an SD100D roller. We get a rental reject and whoever worked on it needs a hammer to the giblets!! All kinds of electrical stuff jumpered, bypassed etc. Also, if somebody has a pic showing what each hydraulic test port is for that would be awesome! I've tried looking for one to download on the net but the places I am comfortable getting info from don't have it. If I can trade info or something please let me know! Thanks guys! And gals haha

Cat CS-433C roller. gear oil 75wt, will 80-90 work?

Hey I just bought a Cat CS-433C vibratory roller. The drum was swapped for a padfoot at some point in case that's relevant info.

I'm going through the manual and I see the hubs drum etc call for 75wt oil. Could I just use 80-90 in it? It seems reasonable and I'm in South Texas it never freezes here.

Your thoughts?

Other things to check for on these machines?

Reasonable life of a Cat CS - 433C vibratory compactor?

Hi, I have a Cat CS-433C compactor. I believe CS means it came with a smooth drum but it has a pad foot drum now.

It has 4600 hours. seem to run well, not blow by in the engine, just replaced some hoses. Looks like the pump and final drive may have been replaced at some point.

I know there will be repairs along the way but does anyone know what the average useful life of a machine like this would be?

10,000 hours? More? Less?

Hydrostat loses power in reverse when warm need help. Bomag BW160

I haven't had too much of a chance to look into it and but just wanted to see if anyone ran across this before,

Works great when cool but after about 15min she starts losing reverse power and then a few minutes later loses nearly all, however forward is still strong as hell. I bought the machine a couple years ago it's a spare and never really bothered me because we do a lot of large pads and don't use it much.... Now it's on a road job rolling in base rock and it's a problem....

It's an ex military unit only has about 1600hours.

Did I damage my machine?

I bought a 2010 bw145d-40 bomag this spring. It has been working great. Last time I used it I notice the high speed travel was not working well. Slow and week seems to be labouring. It's only a little faster than the slow speed. I was reading through the manual and it said to only change speeds at a standstill. I was going from high to low while moving. Would doing this damage it causing the symptoms it has?

Thanks.

cat cs-533e wont move

I have a Cat CS-533e roller that will not move. Ser. # ASL00645 . It was intermittent before but now it will do nothing. I thought it was the parking brake not releasing. The light turns off when the parking brake is released. All fuses and relays are good. I have power coming out of the brake switch both applied and released. I have power at both the axle interlock and drum interlock solenoids, power at neutral safety switch, and power at all relays. I dont know where else to check...The solenoids have power going to them but I dont know how to test anything after them. maybe they arent releasing the brakes. Name: 20161114_132505 (1).jpg

Galion S4-6A questions.

Hello guys,

I recently bought a Galion S4-6A roller. I bought it for sod runway maintenance. It runs like a champ.

Here's what I know about it:

Smooth drum
4 tons with no ballast, 6 tons with ballast.
Waukesha VR155G engine, 29hp
Serial number is 59364, that leads me to think it is a 1980 model.

I've been looking on the interweb for maintenance manuals. I have found a few on Ebay, but they sure are expensive, atleast they seem that way to me.

My main concern right now is finding the proper hydraulic oil for it. The oil that is in it now is red, and I don't want to take a chance on a guess when choosing the proper oil.

Any information that you folks can provide will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Gil

Apprentice operator looking for some help

I'm an apprentice operator looking to learn how to roll asphalt. Last season, I got paired with a journeyman operator who was excellent and very generous with her knowledge, and now having some time off this winter I've been going out to my training school to try and replicate the things I learned. Problem is, I have no hot asphalt to roll--just millings. The journeyman said I can "learn a lot on dirt" but didn't elaborate much. Yesterday i spent 8 hours rolling over a stretch of graded millings, basically just getting the feel for the way the machine moves and how to make it do what I want. When I go back out there next week, I'd like to be able have some actual exercises to do. Any roller operators here that have some good tips on how to practice? I have access to some concrete blocks that I might be able to set up as a false curbline... I was thinking that might be a good idea. The roller I have is Hamm HD90 vibratory tandem drum roller. Which is good, because the company I work for has all Hamms.

And a separate question regarding seat position: what is the correct position for the seat to be in? The journeyman I worked with always ran her seat all the way to curbside of the run and faced sideways, but I've seen other people run them in many different (usually more forward facing) positions. Also, from what i can recall, she didn't move her seat until a new lane was started and the curb was on the opposite side, but I've seen other operators moving them fairly regularly over the course of one lane... What should I be getting in the habit of doing?

Thank you!

Have a fault code coming up at engine start. The code is 5091, which according to my fault code list is a slope sensor issue. The problem is my book does not define the fault codes for the slope sensor, all it says is slope sensor. LOL Does anyone have definitions of for the fault codes 5090 and 5091? The 5091 code is preventing my engine from starting.
